Continuity Project - The Fox

This is my final continuity project. I feel as if, overall, I did well filming this project. However I do realise some improvements are to be considered in terms of the continuity and planning.

  1. Unfortunately, I can't see that you published your storyboard? As you identify, you do need to tighten up on planning... as I identified yesterday, it's a significant part of the final project.

    Comments on the piece:

00:00 - the foley sound of the footsteps doesn't quite work (not in synch with the movement). Did you need it?

00:07 - the action match going through the door is fairly tight. You might want to watch your framing; the angle seems to be a little off, at least in the opening shot

00:13 - I quite like the way you have done this, although I think you hold the shot on your interviewer a little long

00:20 - In future, you might want to consider the mise-en-scene - is this the best space for this kind of scene to take place?

00:23 - You stick to the 180 rule and manage to do some effective shot/ reverse here. You might want to check the audio editing - you can use cross-fades to take the edge off the start of clips, and there are some noise reduction tools which can help with the hiss, if you are using diegetic dialogue

00:30 - you've got a rather nasty jump-cut here between two similar shots. Ideally, you would want to cut away to something (likely the other character) to cover this

00:59 - it's a little disappointing that you've only stuck with the same two shots; for the final piece, you need to be a lot more creative with your use of shot distance, framing, movement etc.

01:04 - another jump cut here - you need to watch this and have something to cut away to to cover the edit

01:14 - remember what I said about filming fights; you might want to use sound effects to create the punch impact, but you do need to stage them so it looks like the punch connected. There are online tutorial videos which can help you with this

Overall, not a bad effort - you manage to capture the continuity elements fairly effectively - just a few things to tighten up on. Well done.
